• 10” spring form pan, buttered and floured
  • 6 eggs separated
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 1 cup of ground nuts (hazelnuts, walnuts or pecans)
  • 1/3 cup of breadcrumbs
  • 2 cups of heavy cream
  • Frozen strawberries, defrosted
  • Beat 6 egg yolks and 1 whole egg until thick and yellow.
  • Add 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 1 cup of ground nuts
  • 1/3 cup of bread crumbs
  • Beat 6 egg whites until stiff, adding 1/4 cup of sugar.
  • Fold 1/3 of the meringue into egg mixture.
  • Add 1 t flour.
  • Fold remainder of meringue into the mixture.
  • Place mixture into pan and bake for 1 hour at 300 degrees.
  • Cool in pan and remove.
  • Cut cake in half horizontally and frost with whipped cream to which vanilla has been added.
  • Add sliced strawberries to layer and top.
