Grandma Miller’s Viennese Hazelnut Torte 10” spring form pan, buttered and floured 6 eggs separated 1/2 cup of sugar 1 cup of ground nuts (hazelnuts, walnuts or pecans) 1/3 cup of breadcrumbs 2 cups of heavy cream Frozen strawberries, defrosted Beat 6 egg yolks and 1 whole egg until thick and yellow. Add 1/2 cup of sugar 1 cup of ground nuts 1/3 cup of bread crumbs Beat 6 egg whites until stiff, adding 1/4 cup of sugar. Fold 1/3 of the meringue into egg mixture. Add 1 t flour. Fold remainder of meringue into the mixture. Place mixture into pan and bake for 1 hour at 300 degrees. Cool in pan and remove. Cut cake in half horizontally and frost with whipped cream to which vanilla has been added. Add sliced strawberries to layer and top.
